Kayaking on the Hudson Reminder

CYAH will be Kayaking on the Hudson this Saturday at 11am (Hoboken Cove Boathouse).

July 11th is Family Day at the Hoboken Cove Boathouse, which is located in Maxwell Place Park near the intersection of Sinatra Drive and Maxwell Place (metered parking is available on the east side of Sinatra Drive). So if you have children or friends that you’d like to bring, you are more than welcome!

The Hoboken Boathouse is a non-profit organization supported by volunteers, boathouse space from the City of Hoboken, and borrowed kayaking equipment from the Downtown Boathouse.  WHAT THAT MEANS TO YOU IS THAT KAYAKING IS FREE!

Please RSVP to us by replying to this post or emailing cyahoboken@gmail.com – we need to know how many people to expect for this event. CYAH there!

Movies under the stars tonight

Hi CYAH! Just a reminder that tonight at 8pm, the town of Hoboken is showing “Get Smart” on Pier A for their “Movies Under the Stars” summer series.  CYAH will be there and we hope you can join us! We’ll have a red balloon tied to our chair so you can find our group. Bring a fold out chair, blanket or lawn chair and snacks if you’d like to munch during the movie.

CYAH Needs Volunteers!

All,

CYAH has a lot of events scheduled for the summer and we’re looking for people to help us at these!  If you can help direct CYAH members at any of the following events (as simple as showing up and letting other members know that you’re there), please email cyahoboken@gmail.com with which ones you’re interested in helping out with.  Here are events that we need to fill for July:

1. Kayaking on the Hudson – July 11th at 11am

2. “The Fave” Concerts at the Park – July 16th at 7pm

3. Bible at the Bar – July 20th at 8pm

4. “The Dark Night” Movie at Pier A – July 22nd at 8pm

5. Guided Meditation – July 23rd at 8pm

Thanks and we hope everyone had a great Fourth!

Mass on the Moss – this Saturday

Mass on the Moss is finally here! We will be leaving from Saints Peter & Paul on Saturday morning at 8:30am sharp.  If you are planning on joining us, meet in the Church parking lot for a caravan to the Delaware Water Gap trails.  Please RSVP to cyahoboken@gmail.com and let us know if you’re coming  and let us know  if you have extra space in your car.  Also, if you don’t have a car and need a ride, let us know that too and we’ll set you up with someone who has room.  We plan to return around 5:30pm so plan accordingly.  If there are any questions, shoot us an e-mail and we’ll get back to you shortly.

We look forward to seeing everyone on the moss!

“Bible at the Bar” – tomorrow at City Bistro, 8pm

Join CYAH at City Bistro (8pm) tomorrow night for our first “Bible at the Bar” event.  We’ll meet at a location throughout the summer to discuss a topic related to the Bible, or religion.  The topic for tomorrow night is “Religion and Pop Culture” – how do popular books and movies such as The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons reflect upon religious culture? Bring a friend or bring yourself – we’ll see you there!

Guided Meditation Tomorrow

Hi Everyone!

Just a reminder about the Guided Meditation tomorrow (Thursday) at 8pm.  If you plan on coming, please RSVP to cyahoboken@gmail.com so we know how many people to expect. The event will be in the Parish Center, which is the building to the right of the Church parking lot; enter through the black gate.  Hope to see you there!

  • Treasures From Our Tradition - July 5, 2009 July 3, 2009
Last week’s Treasure mentioned the “Nuns of the Battlefield,” religious sisters from several communities who served as nurses in the Civil War. Florence Nightingale had only instituted female nurses a decade before in the Crimean War, so the idea of women tending to wounded soldiers was extraordinary. The medical and sanitary conditions on the battlefields w […]

  • Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, 2009 July 3, 2009
The prophet Ezekiel, Saint Paul, and the Lord Jesus share something in common in today’s scripture readings. They all experience obstacles to their ministry. Ezekiel is summoned to prophesy to the Israelites, who are “[h]ard of face and obstinate of heart” (Ezekiel 2:4). Saint Paul recounts how he has been given a “thorn in the flesh” (2 Corinthians 12:7). T […]
